Foster Application

Thank you for wanting to foster a dog for GIMME SHELTER Animal Rescue (“GSAR”)! Fostering is the life line of rescue organizations like ours who do not have a brick and mortar shelter. As a foster you help us save lives, We take pride in finding the best homes for each dog we rescue and fostering gives us the time we need to do so. Please be aware – we do not accept fosters under 21 years old, persons who do not have permission to have an animal in their home or do not have a schedule that permits involved and responsible animal care, or a fenced property for the safety of our dogs. Your application will be carefully reviewed and if you meet the requirements we will contact you within 7 days. Thank you!

Make sure to fill out every field or application will not submit. A confirmation page and follow up email means that your submission was successful.

Be specific

1. I hereby acknowledge the following policies and agree to abide by them during the entire time I am fostering animals for GSAR. I understand that my role is solely as a temporary home, and that the placement of any animal I foster will be conducted by GSAR. It is the job of a GSAR representative to review and interview potential adopters, but as the foster, I will make the animal available to be shown.

2. I understand that I am personally responsible for any and all financial expenses that I incur in my efforts to foster animals for GSAR. Although GSAR may choose to reimburse my expenses, I agree that each expense must be supported by receipts, must be pre-approved by the GSAR Rep, and any expense over $200 for a single animal must also be pre-approved by the Board of Directors. I accept full responsibility for any expenses incurred by me that fall outside of approved expenditures. I will always remember that I represent a nonprofit organization and in no way can profit from any activity related to the organization.

3. I understand that GSAR cannot guarantee or be held responsible for the temperament, behavior, or health of foster animals that I may handle. I am aware that foster animals may cause damage to my personal property, other pets, and humans and agree sole responsibility for these occurrences. I will keep the animal securely contained at all times while in my care.

4. I understand that it is my decision to foster animals for GSAR. I will not hold GSAR liable for any damage, injury or harm caused directly or indirectly through my fostering activities with GSAR. I carry insurance coverage in the event of personal or liability damages resulting from fostering animals for GSAR.

5. I understand that should I decide to keep the animal, I will have to apply to GSAR with an Adoption Application and pay the Adoption Fee. The Adoption Application will jump to the front of the line BUT will have to be approved just like any other application. I acknowledge that i will also need to pay the adoption fee.

6. I understand and agree to all of the above, and support the mission of GSAR. I understand that this form must be received, approved, and acknowledged by GSAR before I may do any volunteer work for the organization, and that GSAR reserves the right to refuse my application. Home Visit: You agree that one or more home visits may be made with or without prior notice, and hereby agree to this. GSAR may examine and/or make inquires about the animal at any time. If GSAR , in its sole discretion, is not satisfied with the manner in which the animal is being kept the dog may be immediately reclaimed. Reclaiming of the animal shall not be considered a trespass or theft. All of the information provided in this application is true and correct. If any of the information changes, I will advise you promptly.

7. I understand that if I am approved for fostering, I will also need to read the “Foster Care Agreement” which is a separate document from this “Foster Application”. The Foster Care Agreement represents the legal contract between a Foster caregiver and "GSAR". I understand that if I am approved to foster an animal, I must review the Foster Care Agreement, agree to the terms of the Agreement and sign the agreement before I can take my foster animal home.

You will be required to provide a copy of this license upon signing the foster contract.
