Herbie

Herbie is a ~ 19 months old, 60 lbs  Shepherd/Hound mix.  He is a very active dog; and needs lots of exercise (and not in a dog run or park with other dogs), he is NOT a couch potato, so he needs a home with a big fenced backyard and active, engaged savvy dog humans would be ideal. He has had a long journey; he was almost feral when we took him and his brother, Henry, in as young pups.
His foster mom says : “He is completely housebroken, can follow basic commands; sit, stay, come.  He will sit and await permission before eating. He loves walks and requires a lot of exercise, I usually walk him about 4 miles a day.  He is affectionate in his own way. He will put his nose right in your face and just stay there!  He will also put his head in your lap or push it into your hand when looking for attention. Herbie is scared of getting in and riding in the car. I was paying someone to drive him and his brother to McDonalds twice a week to get burgers hoping to make them a little more excited about getting in the car but I couldn’t afford to continue doing that. Herbie is more comfortable with women but will warm up to men given a bit of time.”
Herbie needs a home with no cats or young kids.  His ideal home would have another confident, friendly, playful dog friend as a role model because he is a bit shy and will need to adjust.  If interested in adopting Herbie along with his brother, Henry, we would highly consider that option! Herbie is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
The adoption fee is $500.  We require a fully fenced in yard and not an invisible fence.
